On May 3, 2009 Ronald F. Dill joined his loving wife Barbara at the gates of Heaven. No more pain, only happiness and joy.
Mr. Dill was born July 11, 1938 at 8:30 p.m. at Westphalia, Mo., Osage County.
In later years he was known as ""Freckles"". He enjoyed working at an early age. He worked at Marie's Valley Hatchery after school and on Saturdays. In the summer he lived and worked on Bill Luebert's farm 6 days a week.
At the age of 16 years old he was picked as Asst. Fire Chief of Westphalia's New Fire Dept.
In 1957 he moved to St. Louis, Mo. and went to work for Anheuser-Busch, Inc. He worked there for 36 years, retiring on Dec. 31, 1993 at the age of 55. He retired as superintendent of beer packaging and shipping.
The next 5 years he spent working on his properties close to Meremac Caverns.
In 1998 he and his wife Barbara moved to Poplar Bluff, Mo. On Aug. 20, 2002 Barbara passed away after 43 years and 10 months of marriage. To help his healing, in 2003 he went to work for Aire Serve Heating and Cooling selling units at Home Depot. Also in 2003 he took over as manager of St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and American Legion Booster.
In 2004 he took part in commercial television ads for First Midwest Bank.
He served on a Federal Grand Jury for 1 1/2 years in St. Louis.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Diane Rosso and husband Steve of Pevely, Mo., Mary Schindler of Poplar Bluff and Susan Dill and Paige of Caseyville, Ill.; a son, Brian Dill of Melbourne, Fla.; 5 grandchildren: Tim and Danny Rosso, Matthew Schindler and wife Jessica and Kevin Schindler and Heather Adams; and 2 brothers: Harold Dill of Calif. and Robert Dill of Union, Mo.
A Prayer Service will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with the visitation following until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father David Coon officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, c/o Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 123 No. 8th St., Poplar Bluff, MO 63901
