Ronald G. Golden, 68, of Wappapello, Mo., formerly of St. Louis, Mo., passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 at de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Golden was born May 4, 1945 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was a member of Tower Grove Baptist Church and had retired from the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. all in St. Louis. Mr. Golden was a lifetime member of the St. Louis Masonic Lodge 636 and 25-year member of the Moolah Temple. He was also a member of St. Louis American Legion Post 37 and Lifetime member of St. Louis Eagles Lodge 4066. After moving to Wappapello he became a member of the Three Rivers Shrine Club and Aad Grotto Club both located in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Golden was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Knox, Ky. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, singing, cooking, and horseback riding.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Erickson and husband, Michael of St. Louis; mother, Geneva Zimmerman Shrum of Wappapello; stepchildren: Cindy Hemme of Columbia, Mo., Diane Martin of Potosi, Mo., Tim Downey of Arnold, Mo., Mark Downey of Tennessee, Scott Downey of De Soto, Mo., Paul Downey of Potosi, Mo., and Patty Downey of St. Louis; six grandchildren: Hannah Duncan, Colleen Duncan, Caitlin Dooley, Collin Dooley, Sam Duncan, and Claire Dooley; a half-sister, Janice Golden of Coco Beach, Fla.; and two half-brothers, Dallas Golden of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Kenny Golden also of Coco Beach, Fla.
His father, Roy M. Golden and a half-brother preceded him in death.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Wappapello with a Masonic Service being observed at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the funeral chapel with Rev. Tim Schultz officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
