Rosalie Moore

Rosalie (Rosie) Moore, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at her residence.

Rosie was born Dec. 14, 1925 in Goreville, Ill. to James Everett and Beulah Mae (Anderson) Short. She worked as a telephone operator in Marion, Ill. when she met her husband, Hugh B. Moore. They were married on Feb. 17, 1946 and celebrated 64 years last year. From their union they had two children, Cheri and Jim.

Sister Rosalie was active at the First Baptist Church serving in Children's Ministry, very involved in the WMU program, and as church hostess. She was active in the Boy Scout program and was one of the few female recipients of the ""Silver Beaver award"". She was a member of the Better Garden Club, the City Betterment Council, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and Altrusa. She was Worthy Matron of the Poplar Bluff Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #344. She also served as District Deputy of District 52 and as Grand Representative, Arkansas.

Her parents, one brother, James Everett Short, one sister, Velma Louise Short, and her husband Hugh B. Moore preceded Rosalie in death.

She is survived by her two children: Cheri Dawe and husband Jerry of Poplar Bluff and Jim Moore and wife Judy of East Prairie, Mo. She also has six grandchildren - Jeremy Dawe, Jonathon Dawe, Pilar (Dawe) Berry and husband Marcus and Simon Dawe and wife Wendy, all of Poplar Bluff, Joshua Moore and wife Heather of Kirksville, Mo. and Janelle Moore of East Prairie, Mo.; four great-grandchildren - Hunter, Amiah, Molly and Isabelle Berry of Poplar Bluff; and one sister, June Craig of Marion, Ill.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff with a time of visitation at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. John Gilbert will officiate. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cana Cemetery in Goreville, Ill.
