Roy C. Allen

Roy C. Allen, Jr., 77, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Allen was born Feb. 15, 1934 in Poplar Bluff. He was a graduate of Poplar Bluff Class of 1952, and attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. Mr. Allen started his career in banking at The Bank of Poplar Bluff, before working for a short time at First National Bank in Doniphan, Mo. He then joined and later retired from Southern Missouri Bank in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Allen enjoyed working in his yard, spending time with his family and friends and he especially enjoyed having coffee with the guys.
On June 20, 1953, he married Evalyn McClard. She preceded him in death on Aug. 18, 1999.
Survivors include his son, Michael L. Allen (Mike) and wife Kelli of Poplar Bluff, grandchildren, Amanda Stockton and husband Jared of Broseley, Michelle Somers and husband Micheal of Harviell, Stacey Chism and husband Jason of Livingston, TX, Heather Harvey and husband Jacob of Porter, TX and Joshua Allen of Paragould, AR. Great-grandchildren are Zachary Chism, Jake Harvey and Logan Harvey.
His parents, Roy C. and Mildred (Edwards) Allen, Sr. and son, Roy C. Allen III preceded Mr. Allen in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jim Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
