Ruby Ann (Brommer) McFadden, 91 of Poplar Bluff, went to her eternal home on Sunday, April 5, 2020.

Ruby Ann was born on May 21, 1928 in Chicago, IL. Her parents passed away when she was young and she was raised by Merl and Ruby Shewman of Peru, IN. They, her two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

After Graduating from High School in Peru, IN, she attended Lincoln Christian University in Lincoln, IL.

She married Howard D. McFadden on January 10, 1947. Howard’s father, Clarence McFadden married them in Mt. Auburn, IL. Together they served churches in Greenview, Rockford, Mattoon, Wood River and Plainfield, Illinois. Pastor Howard went to his Eternal Home on September 24, 2013.

After their two sons were in school, Ruby Ann attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL, earning her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1965 with honors. She taught for twenty-six years.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. David M. (Kathleen) McFadden of Poplar Bluff, Pastor Stephen McFadden of Tuscumbia, MO; one daughter, Pamela Ann Stapay of O’Fallon, IL; five grandchildren, Joshua (Diana) McFadden of Severn, MD, Jacob (Riva) McFadden of Moberly, MO, Luke (Lindsay) McFadden of Battambang, Cambodia, Matthew (Christi) Stapay of Kuwait, Tara (Andy) Enders of Long Island, NY and nine great -grandchildren, Titus, Lily, Jude, Philip, Sophia, Alea, Mercy, Caleb and Abigail.

She was amember of the Christian Church. Her husband was her pastor for over fifty years. When he retired, their son, Pastor Stephen became her pastor. She had been a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an honorary society in education. She was listed in the “Who’s Who Among American Teachers”. She also received an honorary life membership in the “Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers”.

A Private family service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 with Pastor Jacob McFadden officiating.

She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO
