Ruby J. Schalk

November 2, 1910 — March 16, 2009

Ruby Jerolene Schalk, 98, of Poplar Bluff went home to be with the Lord she loved on Monday, March 16, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Schalk was born Nov. 2, 1910 in Morehouse, and moved to Poplar Bluff in 1919. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Poplar Bluff where she served as a teacher in the Kindergarten and Primary class for many years, and was a member of the Women's Missionary Council. A homemaker and mother, Mrs. Schalk enjoyed spending time with her family, reading her Bible, painting and helping others.

On Dec. 21, 1926 she married George Albert Schalk in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1981.

Survivors include her son, George Thomas Schalk and wife Betty of Poplar Bluff; daughters: Mary Bausworth of St. Francis, Minn., Barbara Ayers, of Poplar Bluff, June Yearwood, of Grand Terrace, Calif., Cassie Smith and husband Charles of Fredericktown and Linda Chapman and husband Gary of Alpharetta, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; and a brother, David Franklin Brandon and wife Mary, of Donnellson, Iowa.

Her parents, Wayne and Ethel (Blackwell) Brandon and daughters, Ruby Eileen Schalk and Ethel Callow preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
