Ruby Emmeline Speer

Ruby Emmeline Speer, 79, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 09, 2026, at her home.

Ruby was born on April 17, 1947, to Bill and Bonnie (Hicks) Medley in Mingo, Missouri. She married Glen Douglas Speer on December 24, 1963, in Poplar Bluff, MO.

Ruby was a lifetime member of Second Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Her caring and compassionate nature led her to career in nursing for nearly 20 years. Ruby was a proud and supportive Navy wife while Glen served for over two decades. In her spare time, she enjoyed researching family genealogy, photography, and traveling. Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan were of some of Ruby's favorite places traveled to. A devoted wife and mother, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.

Ruby is survived by her husband of 62 years, Glen Speer; two children, Steve (Gwen) Speer and Janet (Jason) Richmond; siblings, Richard (Dorce) Medley, Penny (Ed) Muniz, and Lula (Bobby) McDonald; two grandchildren, Beth Speer and Aaron Kevin Woods; great grandchild, William Russell; sister-in-laws, Glenda Medley and Cindy (Ronnie) Land; along with many other extended family members and friends.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Bonnie Medley; son, Tony (Micki) Speer; three sisters, Reba (Darry) King, Clelah (Cecil) Bradley, and Lelah Medley.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 11:00am-12:30pm at Second Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Funeral service will follow beginning at 12:30pm with Pastor Curtis Crowley officiating. Burial will take place at Dudley Cemetery.
