Russell L. Gaddis, 77, of Poplar Bluff, left his earthly home on Thursday, June 21, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Russell, the son of the late Basil and Sadie Merline Shipley Gaddis, was born Aug. 12, 1940 in Blytheville, Ark. He was of the Baptist faith and had retired as a construction worker. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Russell enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, boating and fishing on Black River.
Russsell was married on Aug. 7, 1966 in St. Louis to Patricia Lack. She preceded him in death in 2013. He later married Teresa Umphry in Poplar Bluff. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three children, Rushell (Scott) Lazalier of Poplar Bluff, Tracy (James White) Harget of Fredericktown and Paul (Trina) Gaddis of Poplar Bluff; a step-son Gene (Valerie Dover) McNew of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren: Chelse Bigham, Courtney Lazalier, James "J.E.S" Lazalier, Madison Gaddis, Taytum Gaddis, Tinsley Gaddis, Jayda McNew and Gavin McNew: great-grandchildren: Kinsley Bingham, Jase Bingham, Carson Tinsley and Landon Klene; two sisters, Janice (Thomas) McCanless, and Judy Fourshee; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A brother Charles Gaddis, and two sisters Mary Sue Cornwell and Brenda Lindsey also preceded him in death.
Visitation will begin at 1:30 Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel wih the funeral service immediately following at 3 p.m. The Rev. Thomas McCanless will officiate.
