Russell Mitchel Rowland

Russell Mitchel Rowland, 76, of Poplar Bluff, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with his loving family at his side.

Russell was born Nov. 25, 1935 in Chester County, Tenn. He was a member of The Thousand Hills Cowboy Church, which he loved; was a farmer; and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Russell never met a stranger and enjoyed having fellowship with everyone he came in contact with. He loved working and being on the farm, spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, helping those in need, and participating in tractor pulls.

On Jan. 9, 1991, he married Charlotte Snider in Piggott, Ark. She survives.

Other survivors include two children, Carmen Hoggard and husband Kevin, and Eric Rowland and wife, Kristy all of Poplar Bluff; the mother of his children, Carolyn (Crow) Landrum of Poplar Bluff; 4 grandchildren, Ethan Hoggard, Jansen Hoggard, Michael Hurst and Alexis Rowland; a sister, Gwen McCullar of Selmer, Tenn.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Peggy Hardin, Dot and Doyle Mekan, Norman and Pat Snider and Dallas and Marcie Snider; many nieces and nephews and other friends; and his beloved quarter horse, Velvet.

His parents, Houston and Mozell (Tull) Rowland, and children, Christopher Mitchel Rowland and Paul Todd Rowland preceded Russell in death.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral chapel with Pastor Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
