Ruth Louise Chaney, 84, of Poplar Bluff formerly of Sikeston died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008 at the Oakdale Care Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Chaney was born March 31, 1924 in Pyletown, Mo. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sikeston, where she had served actively until her health began to fail. Mrs. Chaney was a homemaker, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. During her earlier years she worked for Brown Shoe Co in the business office. Mrs. Chaney enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her newfound friends at Oakdale Care Center.
On July 4, 1942 she married Charles V. Chaney, in Morley, Mo. He survives.
Other survivors include her daughter, Connie L. Taylor and husband Paul, of Poplar Bluff; son, Van Chaney and wife Margorie, of Annandale, Va.; 2 grandchildren: Brian Taylor and wife Melissa, of Poplar Bluff and Carrie Chaney, of Temple, Tex.; one great-grandchild, Gatlin Taylor; sister, Blanche McDonald, of Anna, Ill.; and brother, C. D. Alcorn, of Morley.
Her parents, Ellis and Wrista (Fulkerson) Alcorn preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ken Mathes officiating. Burial will follow at 12 noon Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
