Ruth Kanell

Ruth Elizabeth Kanell, 86, of Poplar Bluff Mo passed away Friday March 22, 2013 at West wood Hill Health Care Center in Poplar Bluff.

Ruth was born April 12, 1926 in Malden, Mo. to Ellis A. and Jessie Marie Johnson Burks. Her parents preceded her in death.

She married Claudie Kanell in Poplar Bluff, Mo. on July 23, 1945. He died on July 12, 2006.

Mrs. Kanell was an R.N. and retired as the Director of Nursing at Cedargate Care Center in Poplar Bluff. She attended Seventh Day Adventist and loved spending time with her family, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her children; Claudia Jean Ice and husband Robrt, Rudy Lee Kanell, Claudie Lee Kanell Jr.and wife Toni all of Poplar Bluff, and Rita Ann Hall and husband Ron of Farmington; 17 grand-children; several great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, 2 sisters: Minnie May of Patterson, Mo., and Jane Hudson of Dallas TX., and 1 brother; Larry Ward of St. Louis, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 sons; John, Alan and Billy; a sister Nina Mullen and 2 brothers; Orval Burks and Jim Ward.

Visitation will be from 6-8 Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairdealing Cemetery, in Fairdealing, MO.
