Sarah Kathryn (Jarboe) White

September 4, 1980 — January 23, 2012

Sarah Kathryn (Jarboe) White, 31, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Sarah was born Sept. 4, 1980 in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of The Bluff Church in Poplar Bluff, and was a schoolteacher at the Poplar Bluff 5th and 6th Grade Center. Sarah was a graduate of Poplar Bluff High School Class of 1999, and graduated Magna Cum-Laude with a B.S. Degree in Education from Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield, Mo. She was an avid sports enthusiast and had swum competitively for 13 years. On her 29th birthday Sarah celebrated it by skydiving. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading and bicycling.

She was a sister. She had a brother who found a partner in mischief in her as a child, counsel and a shoulder in her when she was young woman, and a chance to be a caring uncle when she became a remarkable, loving mother.

She was a daughter. She had parents who faithfully watched and guided her as a child, quietly and humbly beamed over her as a young woman, then marveled over her as she became a remarkable, loving mother.

She was a wife. She had a husband who wished he knew her as a child, began a crush on her when she was a young woman, and learned fatherhood by watching her being a remarkable, loving mother.

She was a mother. She had a little boy and a little girl. As a sister, she taught them how to be brother and sister. As a daughter, she guided them from birth as her parents once guided her. As a wife, she gave them a father by always seeing the best parts of the man she married. All the while, she gave them comfort and joy by hiding the worst parts of cancer behind smiles and kisses and bedtime stories. Remarkable. Loving.

On Nov. 8, 2003, Sarah married Christopher Brian White at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff. He survives.

Other survivors include her children, Nolan and Ella White of the home; parents, George and Kathryn ""Katie"" (Obermeyer) Jarboe of Poplar Bluff; brother, Tim Jarboe of Kansas City, Mo.; maternal grandparents, Joe and Lois Obermeyer of St. Louis, Mo.; and large extended family.

Sarah was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, George and Evelyn Jarboe.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with The Rev. Doug Osborn officiating and The Rev. Jim Hoyt assisting. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
