Shirley Jean Boxx

Shirley Jean Boxx was born Nov. 30, 1952 and she passed away Nov. 9, 2016 at her residence.

She was a lifetime resident of Poplar Bluff and graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1970. Her first job was at Lee Optical. She retired, as a shoe dept. manager of a local retail store and after retirement became the supervisor of a home care agency. Ms. Boxx’s last place of employment was at K-Mart. In her later years she took jewelry and pottery classes. She enjoyed crafts, making jewelry and crocheting. She loved to travel and take bus tours. The last few years she took some nice long trips and enjoyed seeing lots of relatives and friends. Ms. Boxx had a great love for dogs, especially Chihuahuas.

Her mother, Iona Elizabeth Deeder-Harrison-Boxx, her father, Sylvester Quincey Boxx and her brother, Malcom Vinton Harrison preceded her in death.

Survivors include, her Uncle Bob Deeder of Wichita, Kan., lots of cousins and many friends.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. James Huffman officiating. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
