Shirley Maudean McCauley, 89, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026. She was born September 2, 1936, in Corning, Arkansas, to Ewing and Ila Rawlings.
Shirley married Danner “Dan” McCauley on September 2, 1956, in Corning, Arkansas. Together, they owned and operated Gamma Labs until its sale in July 1994.
She is survived by her sons, Greg (Brenda) McCauley and Gary (Connie) McCauley; her son-in-law, Dieter Woolard; her grandchildren, Brett (Annie) McCauley, Caitlyn (Blaine) Jones, Cory (Luke) Henson, Lori (Chuck) McClure, Jeff Riggs, Ashley (Stephen) Waite, and Danner (Ashley) McCauley; her great-grandchildren, Karsten McCauley, Kinley McCauley, Layken Jones, Ashton Jones, Karter Jones, Wynne Henson, Storm McClure (Anna), Garrett McClure, Jude Riggs, Max Waite, Mason Waite, Austyn McCauley, Lexton Ford, Asher Ford, and August McClure; and her brother, James E. (Cheryl) Rawlings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan McCauley; her daughter, Karen Woolard; and her sister, Velma Mizell.
Shirley’s family and close friends were truly everything to her. She found her greatest purpose in caring for and loving those closest to her, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Her faith was an important part of her life, and some of her most cherished days were spent serving in the Sunday school classroom.
In her later years, Shirley made her home at New Hope, where she formed many dear friendships and was deeply appreciative of the compassionate staff who cared for her.
She took great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially loved her annual fudge and cinnamon roll baking days. Proudly known as the head “fudge-em,” she made sure to pass down her recipes and traditions, leaving a sweet legacy her family will continue for years to come.
Shirley will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to her family, and the love she shared so freely with all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. All are welcome to attend.
