Shirley A. Brown Rodgers

Shirley A. Rodgers, 78, a lifelong resident of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at Crystal Oaks Care Center in Crystal City, Mo.

Mrs. Rodgers, the daughter of the late Ellis Wade and Opal Lorton Brown, was born March 16, 1938 in St. Louis, Mo. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle and had retired as a cook at Frosty's and Jessie's Drive Ins. Mrs. Rodgers enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include five children: Bonnie Jett of Poplar Bluff, Barbara Rankin of Naylor, Raymond Rodgers and Joyce Waite also of Poplar Bluff and Linda Kay Rodgers of Ellsinore; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Georgia Brown of Bridgeton, Mo. and Maria Dell; and a brother, Darrell Brown of Eureka, Mo.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff, with a funeral service following at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Alma Jo Brown will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
