Jimmy "Skeeter" Hunt, 78, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
He was born on November 13, 1939 in Paw Paw, OK. He was raised by his grandparents, Oscar & Melissa Gilkey. He graduated from Fisk/Rombauer in 1957. Skeeter worked as a control room operator for M&A Electric and retired in 2002 after 30 years of service. On February 10, 1973 he married Teresa Nelson in Fisk, MO. He was a member and deacon of Living Word Baptist Church where he also taught Sunday School classes for several years.
He announced horse shows, coached women's fast pitch softball, enjoyed working on his farm raising cattle and horses, and was a master in front porch philosophy.
Skeeter is survived by his loving spouse of 45 years, Teresa Hunt of the home; four children, Vickie Hopkins of Poplar Bluff, MO, Barbara (Bruce) Brewington of McEwen, TN, Tina (Tim) Mathias of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Jimmy (Taylor) Hunt, Jr. of Poplar Bluff, MO; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bernice Dunning of Poplar Bluff, MO.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Living Word Baptist Church on Township Line in Poplar Bluff.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10:00 am at Living Word Baptist Church with Brother Donny Emmons officiating. Burial will take place in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the John 3:16 Ministries or Awana Program at Living Word Baptist Church.
