Stella R. Hurst

Stella R. Hurst, 88, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Hurst was born Dec. 17, 1920 in Trout River Newfoundland, Canada. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hurst enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, fishing and playing cards.

On May 16, 1953 she married Richard Arnold ""Dick"" Hurst, in Newfoundland. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Hurst and wife Linda and Brian Hurst and wife Sandy, all of Poplar Bluff; one grandson, Brandon Hurst, of Poplar Bluff; and one sister, Rita Sauer, of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

Her parents, Douglas and Maud Wilton, a granddaughter, Sarah Lange, and two sisters and two brothers preceded Mrs. Hurst in death.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Kizito Wenani officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
