Steven Watts Shanks

Steven Watts Shanks, 52, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Shanks was born Feb. 7, 1957 in Poplar Bluff. He was a member of New Home General Baptist Church where he was baptized a year ago. Disabled since the age of two Mr. Shanks was a member of the first Cub Scout pack started in 1963 for the mentally and physically challenged. He enjoyed making crafts out of Popsicle sticks, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and fishing.

Mr. Shanks is survived by his sister, Patricia Shackelford of Poplar Bluff; a nephew and two great-nephews.

His parents, William H. and Mary Frances (Watts) Shanks, sister, Barbara Shanks and brother, William H. Shanks preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. Wednesday at The Manor in Poplar Bluff. A graveside and burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Woodlawn section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with the Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating and Mr. Richard Dodge assisting.
