Steven E. Steward

Steven Edgar Steward, 77, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2016 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Steward, the son of the late Everett Leo and Muriel Ruth Chronister Steward, was born July 7, 1939 in Poplar Bluff. He was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and was a farmer and county supervisor with the F.H.A. Mr. Steward proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed spending time on his farm and around his fishpond and making farm gadgets. During his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Steward was a devoted husband, father and the foundation of his family that he loved so much. He will be greatly missed.

On April 10, 1961, he married the love of his life, Nina Fusilier in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She survives.

Other survivors include a sister, Carolyn Lance of Poplar Bluff; four children, Steve W. Steward and his wife Melinda Steward of Poplar Bluff, Eric P. Steward of Patton, Mo., Lori Hardin and her husband Kenneth W. Hardin, Jr. of Poplar Bluff and Matthew Steward and his wife Nancy Steward of Campbell, Mo.,; nine grandchildren, Rex Steward, Ryan Hardin, Sean Hardin, Cierra Hardin, Thomas Steward, Christopher Steward, Elizabeth Steward, Glen W. King, II and Heather N. Harris; and four great-grandchildren, Payton Steward, Brianna Steward, Logan H. King and Callie King.

A brother, Wayne E. Steward also preceded him in death.

The visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Nathan Kirkley will officiate. Burial with full military honors will take place in the Woodlawn section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
