Susie Jessie Rush

Susie Jessie (Davis) Rush, 90, of Bowling Green, KY, formerly of Poplar Bluff died Sunday August 23, 2009 at the Bowling Green Medical Center in Bowling Green.

Mrs. Rush was born June 27, 1919, in Neelyville. While a resident of Poplar Bluff she attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and later after moving to Kentucky became a member of the Scottsville Road Missionary Baptist Church in Bowling Green. Mrs. Rush had retired from the Smiley Container Corp of Poplar Bluff. She enjoyed playing the piano, cooking and sewing.

On July 25, 1936 she married Silas Rush. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1998.

She is survived by three children: Mona (Earl) Edwards of Barnhart, Bobby M. (Sally) Rush of Festus and Jessie W. Rush of Bowling Green, KY: ten grandchildren: Jeffrey (Lynne) Edwards, Gregory (Sonya) Edwards, Gina Daniels, Michael Edwards, Debbie (Donald) Heckel, Brenda Hayes, Keith (Patricia) Hayes, Lisa (William) Kauffmann, April Rush and Andrew Rush; nine great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Rush was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie T. and Susan (Maupin) Davis; three sisters: Effie Lawrence Owens, Ura Smith and Dollie Parrish; and two brothers: Lubie Davis and Roy Davis.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 Wednesday in the chapel with the Rev. Cory McCaig officiating. Burial will be at Kinsey Cemetery, in Harviell.
