Terry Jean Ferguson

Terry Jean Ferguson, 83, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Ferguson was born Jan. 23, 1927 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, and had retired as owner and operator of Service Printing Co. Mr. Ferguson was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force having served during WWII; and participated in the Honor Tours for World War II Veterans to Washington, DC. As a Boy Scout Leader he served as Leader of Explorer Post 302 for many years, and received the Award of Merit and as well as the Silver Beaver Award, which is the highest national leader award. Mr. Ferguson was a member of the Poplar Bluff Kiwanis Club, where he previously served as president and lieutenant governor, and was a member of Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). He enjoyed spending time with his family, being active in his church and the community, and building model cars and airplanes.

On June 1, 1946 he married Betty Jo Rollman in Cape Girardeau. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Andrew David Ferguson and wife Brenda of Poplar Bluff and John Paul Ferguson and wife Sandra of Covington, Tenn.; one grandchild, Andrea Ferguson; three great-grandchildren, Alexia Ferguson, Aubrey Ferguson and Ari Anna McNeil; and a sister, Patricia Ruth Viox of Cape Girardeau.

His parents, Ernest Francis and Stella Mae Gibson Ferguson and a brother, Frederick F. Ferguson preceded him in death.

The funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with the Rev. Dennis Ward officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
