Thelma G. Casinger, 89, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, October 24, 2009 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Casinger was born October 17, 1920 in Neelyville. She had worked in earlier years at Doctors Regional Medical Center in Housekeeping and later at the Noel Factory; and also helped her husband on their farm. She was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, playing the piano, flower gardening, arts and crafts and cooking.
On Dec. 23, 1941 she married Gerald F. Hager and he preceded her in death. On Oct. 17, 1976 she married Arvil E. Casinger and he also preceded her in death on April 10, 1990.
Surviving are two children, Darrell Hager and wife Phyllis of DeSoto; Donna Ross of Poplar Bluff; two granddaughters, Tonja Ross of Tampa, Florida and Angela Greenleaf and husband Mike of Newnan, Georgia; 2 great grandsons, Evan Greenleaf and Riley Greenleaf; two brothers, Bobby Foust and wife Betty of Harviell and Leo Foust and wife Patsy of St. Louis; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Casinger was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Audra (Knight) Foust; a son, Gerald Ray Hager; and four sisters, Alma Lee Ethridge, Pauline Foust, Eula Lee Foust and Eileen Foust.
Visitation will be at 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jim Osborn officiating. Burial will be at Cochran Cemetery in Butler County.
