Thelma Jean (Porter) Irby

Thelma Jean Irby, 76, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at her residence.
Mrs. Irby was born May 28, 1935 in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of The Bluff Church in Poplar Bluff, and was a homemaker. Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and playing golf, bingo and cards.
On Aug. 30, 1959, she married Stanton Irby in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Irby survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Janet Turner and husband Bill and Jamie Gilmore and husband David all of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Trey Gilmore and fiance Monica, Bill Turner III and wife Kayla, Emily Gilmore and Vivian Turner; a great-granddaughter, Rylee Gilmore; three sisters, Betty Osborn and husband Jim of Poplar Bluff, Patsy Hunt of Kerrville, Tex. and Kay Sneathern and husband Jerry also of Poplar Bluff; and a brother, W.C. Porter and wife Jeanie of Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Irby was preceded in death by her parents, James C. and Thelma L. (Barber) Porter and a brother-in-law, Luther Hunt.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Doug Osborn officiating and Mr. Bill Turner assisting. Burial will be in the Woodlawn section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
