Tommy Clifton Hunt

Tommy Clifton Hunt Sr., of Broseley died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at his residence.

Tommy C. ""Pa Pa"" Hunt Sr. was born to the late Andrew and Reola Hunt on September 30th, 1928 in Parma, MO. The family later relocated to the Morocco Community where he met and married the love of his life Mary Frances Wade. She survives.

He confessed his hope in Christ at an early age and was a faithful dedicated member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist church.

Tommy was a farmer for many years. He also was employed by Resnick Implement Company and later employed by the Old Poplar Bluff Hospital. Tommy was a veteran of the United States Army. He served the community as being a member of the Morocco and Providence Cemetery Board where he served as treasure and caretaker.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, family barbecues, attending musicals and listening to the Christian Echoes Singing Broadcast on Sunday mornings. Pa Pa was a loving family man who cared deeply for his children and grandchildren. He often shared with them memories of his past experience in the military of which he was very knowledgeable.

He leaves in God's care his devoted wife Mary Frances Hunt, three sons Amos (Shirley) of Killeen, TX; Robert (Revia) of Poplar Bluff, MO; Tommy Jr. of Higginsville, MO; five daughters Martener Thomas of Broseley, MO; Jane Ellison (Larry) of Poplar Bluff, MO; Bonnie Hunt of Sikeston, MO; Denise Harper of Detroit, MI; LouRetta Jefferson (Andrew) of Poplar Bluff, MO; and Harvey (Stella) Hunt of Broseley, MO; Johnnie (Charles) Hamber of St. Louis, MO whom he helped raise and loved as his own; one brother Eugene Hunt (Dorothy) of Poplar Bluff, MO.; fifty five grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and church family and friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers Andrew, Willie and Edward, and three sisters Reola, Earlene, and Bernice.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the Chapel with the Rev. Andrew Jefferson officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
