Travis Eugene Cox Jr.

Travis Eugene Cox, Jr, 66, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Eugene was born on April 06, 1959, to Travis and Norma Jean (Lindsey) in Dexter, Missouri. He married Judith Rose (Chitwood) on August 16, 1986, in Sikeston, Missouri.

Eugene attended school at Sikeston and graduated in 1977. He then attended Southeast Missouri State University, majoring in agriculture and biology. Eugene was a talented musician, and music played a very important role in his life. Eugene was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing softball. He was a member of First Baptist Church for many decades. His greatest joys in life were God, his family, and fishing.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judy Cox; father and stepmother, Travis and Margie Cox; two daughters, Melissa (Eric) Smith and Bridget Hillis; one son, James Cox (Shannon Bailey); one sister, Joy Cox; seven grandchildren, Alec (Jasmine) Moncier, Lillian (Dakota) Southerland, James D. Kearby, Darrious Wallace, Taylor Cox, Sladen Cox, and Rose Wallace; three great-grandchildren, Carter, Calvin, and Knox Eugene; along with many friends and church family.

Eugene was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Cox and his best friend, Kenny Yates.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 02, 2025, from 11:30 am-1:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00 pm with Pastor Brandon Spain officiating. Burial will take place at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
