Vada Ward

Vada Ward, 78, of Poplar Bluff, passed peacefully in to the arms of Jesus on Saturday, August 25, 2018 surrounded by her family at her side in Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

She was born on June 21, 1940 to Jesse and Blanche (Bowman) Richards in Greenville, TN. She attended school at Ashton High School in Ashton, IL. On February 10, 1962 she married Ralph in Poplar Bluff, MO. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2012 after 50 years of marriage.

Vada worked for Smiley Container Factory for 32 years. After retirement she worked for Cedar Gate Nursing Home and Eugene Field Elementary School.

She attended Westwood Baptist Church and enjoyed her time in the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed going to Westwood Hills Nursing Home and doing her exercises. While there she met her companion, Jess Lecroy. They enjoyed their time together and took cruises and trips over several years.

Vada is survived by her three children, Tammy Ward, Steven Ward, and Roxanne (Chris) Chang all of Poplar Bluff, MO; four grandchildren, Christina Haynes, Crystal Haynes, Ciera Chang, and Brendan Chang; three great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Makenzie, and Ayden Haynes; and one sister, Theresa Whitaker of Pocahontas, AR,

She was preceded in death by two sons, Baby Boy Ward and Ralph Ward, her husband, parents, five sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2018, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation at 1:00 pm in Moore Funeral Service Chapel with Kevin Murray, officiating. Burial will take place in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
