Veatrice Mae (Sebree) Denbow

Veatrice Mae Denbow, 85, of Poplar Bluff, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Oakdale Care Center.

Mrs. Denbow was born Nov. 15, 1926 in Malden, Mo. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, and had worked at Doctors Regional Medical Center as a Nurse's Aid during the 1970's. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, sewing, and traveling, especially to Branson, Mo.

On October 11, 1975, she married Pinkney Charles Denbow in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2000.

Surviving are 4 children, Linda Babcock of Springdale, Ark., Gary Hobbs and wife Jettie of Cedar Hills, Mo., Rick Hobbs and wife Carman of Kennett, Mo. and Larry Hobbs and wife Susan of Wilmington, N.C.; a step-son, Mike Denbow and wife Sandra of Sedalia, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Paul Babcock, Steve Babcock, Anthony Hobbs, Michelle Gant, Melanie Brown, Benjamin Hobbs, Samuel Hobbs, Ashley Arnold, Bobby Hobbs, Lee J. Hobbs, Adam Hobbs and Chandler Hobbs; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren, Tammi Babcock, Lynn Seabaugh, Chris Seabaugh, Jessica Bridges and William Justin Davis; 5 step great-grandchildren; one sister, Ponda Crawford of Malden, Mo., and one brother, J. R. McGowen of Flint, Mich.

Her parents, Fred and Daisey (Venable) Sebree, a grandson, Michael Hobbs, 3 brothers, Truman Blake, Melvin Blake and Richard Sebree and a son-in-law, Orville Babcock also preceded Mrs. Denbow in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel with Pastor James Albin and Rev. Jim Osborn officiating. Burial will follow at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
