Veda L. Mayse

Veda Leona Mayse, 86, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, April 19, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Mayse was born Aug. 20, 1923 in Henrickson. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and had worked at J.J. Newberry Cafeteria until her retirement. Mrs. Mayse enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and cooking.
On Feb. 22, 1941 she married Harold C. Mayse. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1998.
Survivors include her children: Harold E. Mayse and wife Gay of St. Louis and Sandra Halcumb and husband Charles and Richard Mayse and wife Evelyn all of Poplar Bluff; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Frances Mayse of Poplar Bluff; sisters, Verna Ketcherside of Staunton, Va., Verla Davis of Poplar Bluff, Laura Hamm of Imperial and Mary Lou Ward of Fredericktown; brothers, Charles Davidson of Rochelle, Ill. and David Davidson of Poplar Bluff.
Her parents, Eddie and Alta (Head) Davidson and son, Steven Mayse also preceded Mrs. Mayse in death.
Visitation will begin at 12 noon Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. J.C. Bryant officiating. Burial will be at New Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler County.
