Velbert Earl Hammack, 80, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Oakdale Care Home in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Hammack was born September 25, 1932 in McClure, IL to George and Alma Skiles Hammack. He was an Army Veteran during the Korean War and retired from ITT Blackburn in St. Louis, MO. He was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening. Mr. Hammack was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., and the Missouri Council of Senior Citizens.
Mr. Hammack married Tedola Williams on August 17, 1957 at Hernando, MS. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Tom Hammack of Wright City, MO; two daughters, Debbie Potter (Richard) of Wappapello; Linda Kurtz (Doug) of Puxico; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
His parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 ? 8 p.m. at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Wappapello, with the Puxico VFW Post 382 presenting a military walk-thru at 6:30 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday at 10:00a.m.at the Wappapello chapel with Pastor Marshall Link officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Puxico City Cemetery.
