Vera Milla Kinder, 89, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at Oakdale Care Center.
Mrs. Kinder was born April 25, 1924 in Bourbon, Mo. She was a member of Green Forest Church of Christ, and was a homemaker. In her earlier years she worked for Rohr Aircraft in Chula Vista, Calif. during World War II, building an early version of the B-24 Bomber. Mrs. Kinder enjoyed spending time with her family, writing poetry, doing arts and crafts, and oil painting.
On June 3, 1952, she married Homer C. Kinder. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children Ken Hedges (Cynthia) of Liberty Hill, Tex., Stephen Kinder (Marge) and Cynthia Ward all of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren; Kenny Hedges, Cynthia Hedges Neste, Rebecca Kinder Lahann, Stephen Hedges and Eric Ward; and six great-grandchildren.
Her parents, Edmond and Grace Brewer Missey also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel with Mr. Ray Sowell officiating. Interment will follow at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family have requested that memorials be made to American Heart/Stroke Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 63674.
