Vern C. Hedspeth

Vern C. Hedspeth, 85, of Williamsville died Friday, June 26, 2009 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Hedspeth was born Feb. 21, 1924 in Butler County. He was a member of Black Creek Missionary Baptist Church, and was a farmer. Mr. Hedspeth was also a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during WW II. For his service Mr. Hedspeth was awarded a European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars; Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon; World War II Victory Medal; and Good Conduct Medal. He enjoyed being outdoors and hunting.

Survivors include two nieces, Phyllis Aspinwall of Waldron, Ark. and Barbara Hedspeth of Louisville, Ky.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Chapel. Burial will be at Black River Cemetery in Butler County.
