Vernon Alvis Hunter

Vernon Alvis Hunter, Jr., 51, of Poplar Bluff formerly of Orlando, Fla., died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Hunter was born Jan. 30, 1957, in East Prairie, Mo. He was of the Baptist faith, and had worked as a manager for several major retail stores. Mr. Hunter enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include six children, Cody D. Hunter Mayse, of Poplar Bluff, Heather Hunter, Katlyn Hunter, Megan Stinson, Chad Daniels and Elizabeth Hunter, all of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren; his mother, Patsy J. (Husk) Whittenberg, of Poplar Bluff; and two brothers, Michael Hunter and Kurt Whittenberg, of Poplar Bluff.

Visitation will be from 1 - 2 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service and burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Sparkman Cemetery, in Butler County with the Rev. Don Thomas officiating.
