Violet L. (Newell) Berry

Violet L. Berry, 87, of Clarkston, Mich., passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 in Wappapello, Mo.

Mrs. Berry was born March 17, 1927 in Wayne County, Mo. She worked at F.W. Woolworth Store in Poplar Bluff for many years and was a homemaker. For the past 30 years Mrs. Berry had resided in Clarkston, Mich., with her daughter and son-in-law. She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking care of her grandchildren, gardening and birdwatching.

On June 17, 1944, she was married to Ray Berry in Arkansas. He preceded her in death in 1968.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Lohmeier (John E.), from Clarkston, Mich.; three grandchildren: Cynthia Lohmeier, David Lohmeier (Beth) and Micheal Lohmeier (Debbie); seven great-grandchildren: Maggie, Nathan, Abby, Olivia, Emma, Hannah and Alina; a sister, Joy Hale of Wappapello; a brother, Ernie Newell (Sue) of Wappapello; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Earnest and Gladys Kelley Newell and brothers, Wayne Newell and Sam Newell also preceded Mrs. Berry in death.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Wappapello Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Bill Garrett officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
