Virgil D. Burkett

Virgil Douglas Burkett, 58, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Burkett was born Nov. 14, 1950 in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a retired self-employed carpenter. Mr. Burkett was also a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Vietnam. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include three children: Brandy Burkett and Christopher Griffin both of Poplar Bluff and James Burkett of St. Louis; his father, Willie James Burkett of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren; three sisters: Debra Proctor, Diane Hart and Darline Thurman all of Poplar Bluff; and a brother, James Burkett also of Poplar Bluff.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
