Virgil Woodrow Powell, 92, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Powell was born April 12, 1917 in Canalou. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff, and was a retired electrician. Mr. Powell was also a veteran of the U. S. Army having served from 1939 to 1945. He enjoyed watching the History Channel on T.V., gardening and reading.
On Feb. 9, 1946 he married Lena W. Witte in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other survivors include a sister, Dorothy Smith of Traverse City, Mich.; and a brother, Ted Powell of Royal Oak, Mich.
A graveside service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Woodlawn section of the City Cemetery with Dr. William Vail officiating.
