Virginia Rosetta Davis, 90, of Sandoval, Ill., formerly of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in Sandoval.
Mrs. Davis was born July 27, 1922 in St. Louis, Mo. She was of the Baptist faith, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Davis enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her family, walking, fishing and quilting.
On Oct. 8, 1938, she married Joseph Daniel Davis in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1993.
Survivors include nine children: Norman Davis, of Oden, Ill., Evelyn Hill, of Poplar Bluff, Joann Nance, of St. Clair, Mo., Carol Rist, of Sandoval, Ill., Gary Davis, of Marble Hill, Mo., Thelma Nance, of St. Clair, Mo., Steven Davis and Loretta Davis, both of Sandoval, Ill., and Vanessa Brooks, of St. Clair, Mo.; 35 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Whitmer, of Fairdealing; and several nieces and nephews.
Her father, John Henry Koonce; mother, Pearl Hanson, son, Donald Davis, and two sisters and two brothers also preceded Mrs. Davis in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel with burial following at Black Creek Cemetery.
