Vivian Irene Burnley

September 27, 1919 — December 1, 2008

Vivian I. Simmons Burnley, 89 of Canton, Ga., and a former resident of Poplar Bluff and Kensett, Ark. died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 at the Brian Center of Canton, in Canton.

Mrs. Burnley was born Sept. 28, 1919 in the Lone Hill community of Butler County. She was of the Baptist faith, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Burnley was a skilled quilter and well known for her beautiful quilts.

In Dec. 1957 she married Jack Burnley in Columbus, Miss. He preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 1990.

Survivors include her nephew, Teddy Hines and wife Audrey, of Canton, Ga., formerly of Poplar Bluff; great-niece, Laura (Lee) Hopkins, of Euharlee, Ga., formerly of Poplar Bluff and Montana; and great-nephew, Mike Lee and wife Robin, of Euharlee, Ga. and formerly of Poplar Bluff.

Her parents, B. H. and Elsie (Parsley) Simmons; sister, Virginia (Hines) Langhausen; and niece, Marjorie (Hines) Lee all formerly of Poplar Bluff preceded her in death.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service and burial will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating.
