Wallace David Massingham, 91, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center
Mr. Massingham was born Aug, 25, 1923, in Poplar Bluff. Mo. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; and he served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1944. Mr. Massingham was previously employed by McPheeters Clinic as Business Manager, as City Clerk for the City of Poplar Bluff and was employed by Missouri Division of Youth Services at Sears Youth Center for 25 years before retiring at the age of 74. He loved being outdoors, animals and building model trains.
On Feb. 9, 1946, he married Edna Rubottom in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2011.
Survivors include three sons: Terry Massingham and wife, Janice, Dan Massingham and wife, Carol and Mark Massingham and wife, Paula, all of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren: Erica Crawford and husband, Bryan, Landon Massingham, and Garrett Hendrix and wife, Stephanie, all of Poplar Bluff and Lyndsey Hendrix, of Springfield, Mo.; and two great-grandchildren: Mallory King and Bailey King, both of Poplar Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Fannie (Deem) Massingham and one sister, JoAnn Jeffords.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 2 p.m. Father David Coon will officiate. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
