William “Bill” Harvey Kurz, 80, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away at home surrounded by family on August 24th, 2025. Bill was born in Butler County on March 24th, 1945, to Leroy Arthur Kurz and Iris Ellen (Edwards) Kurz.
Bill graduated in the class of 1963 from Poplar Bluff High School. He was drafted and served in the Army from 1966-1968, during the Vietnam era. He worked in communications for AT&T and Southwestern Bell. Bill enjoyed raising cattle, working in the hay fields, and fishing in his spare time. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3730 and the American Legion Post #153.
Bill was united in marriage to Darline Burkett on February 14, 1965, who survives. From this union they had three children, Cheryll Darline (Jerry) Rich, Kelly Ellen (Ben) Godwin and Kyle William Kurz. He is survived by eight grandchildren Rainy Kay Emmons, Lauren Mae Cassinger, Freddy Allen Emmons, Jacob Alan Rich, Cole Lane Emmons, Sarah Darline Rich, Trystan Kyle Kurz, Charly Sue Godwin and six great-grandchildren Iris, Meadow, Elliot, Duke, Ember, and Juniper. He is survived by sisters Lenora Dunlap, Jeannie (Jim) Smith, brothers Cleve (Judy) Kurz, Dennis Kurz and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Iris Kurz and his second wife Anna Lee Marler Kurz, infant sister Mary Ann Kurz, brother-in-law James Dunlap, and sister-in-law Nancy Kurz.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, August 29th, with funeral services immediately following at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, MO. Interment will be at Kerns Cemetery located in Stringtown, MO.
