William K. ""Kenny"" Hanks, 75, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Hanks was born Sept. 14, 1935 in Butler County. He was a 2-year veteran of the U. S. Army and 9-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Hanks had a BA in accounting but for most of his working career he was employed as a musician. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, music, working outdoors and building projects.
On Dec. 10, 1960, he married Jill Elizabeth Foster in Oxford, England. She survives.
Other survivors include 3 children, Robin (Charles Love) Hanks, Susan (Danny) Evans and Terri (Todd) Tipton all of Poplar Bluff; 7 grandchildren, Christopher Casey, Jessica (Keith) Graham, Jacob Jones, Ryan Nelson, Eric (Chelsea) Nelson, Samantha Eastwood and Kodi Lee Eastwood; 2 great-grandchildren, Easton Kirchner and Taylor Graham; 4 sisters, Blanche Cartos of Chesapeake, Va., Barbara Keysacker of St. Louis, Mo.,Betty J. Smith of Chaffee, Mo. and Carolyn McPeake of Conway, Ark.; and a brother, Lester (Betty) Hanks of Albany, Ga.
His parents, Willie Alonzo and Susie Jane Martin Hanks and brothers, Henry Lee Hanks and James A. Hanks preceded him in death.
The family will gather and visit with friends and other relatives at 6 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Billy McPeake officiating.
