William Donald ""Bill"" Martin, 89, of Fredericktown, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 at Madison Medical Center in Fredericktown.
Mr. Martin was born Oct. 7, 1921 in Poplar Bluff. He was a member of Southside Assembly of God, and had retired after years of owning and operating an auto repair shop. Mr. Martin was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during WWII. He enjoyed fishing and having a garden and growing an orchard of apples, peaches and pears.
On July 31, 1945, he married Rosey Mae Strenfel. She preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Kay Baker of West Memphis, Ark. and Linda M. Looney of Fredericktown, Mo.; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Bays Spring Cemetery in Butler County.
