Wm. Thomas "Tom" Mccoy

September 26, 1925 — December 1, 2019

William Thomas "Tom" McCoy, was born on September 26, 1925 in Center Ridge, Arkansas and left his earthly home on December 1, 2019 at the age of 94.

He was born in a family with 6 brothers and sisters. Through the years, the ONLY place he traveled was to see his family in Arkansas. You were all loved and special to him.

He married before moving to Poplar Bluff and had a son Elwood and a daughter Weatia.

In 1959, he married our mother Edna Drake McCoy and had 3 daughters. Our oldest sister Joann, who is in heaven, Tammy and Bertha. And several very loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dad was a hard-working man that could always find a way to support his family. He worked in construction and carpentry mostly. And to make extra money through the years, he caught and sold pigeons, built bird houses, repaired lawnmowers, traded chickens, and recycled everything. We spent many mornings with dad at the sale barn, meeting his friends and trading animals.

He loved to go fishing! We would go rake for craw fish in the ditches on 53 Hwy and would get up early to be at the Wappapello spillway before daybreak. He could always catch fish and us girls could always catch the rocks. Our dad also enjoyed playing cards mostly Spades and played several games a week. So thorough and thought out, every card he played, he had a plan for the next. Playing cards together was his fun and competition, especially against mom.

Dad was a man of great integrity and honor, a true example of actions speaking louder than words. If you needed help, he was there and if he had a dollar and you needed it, it was yours. On the occasions he did use words you knew to listen because they were well thought out and intended to make a point. My sister and I always knew when he started a sentence with “Let me ask you something Sis” he was either making a point or we had done something he considered in poor judgement. And would finish with, “always treat people the way you want to be treated.”

But most of all our dad loved with all his heart. We knew as his children that we were at the front of the line and never once did we doubt his love. The only individuals that had more privileges than us were his grandchildren. In his world they ruled.

Dad we will see you soon. And we can hear him say, “if the Lords will Sis”. We love you Daddy!

According to his wishes Tom will be cremated. No services are planed.
