Wylie Eugene ""Gene"" Gray, 83, of Belton, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 at Belton Research Hospital in Belton.
Mr. Gray was born July 31, 1927 in Clarkton, Mo. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, and had retired as Commander Sergeant Major with the U.S. Army. Mr. Gray was a former member of the V.F.W.
On March 4, 1947 he married Virginia Hamilton. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Young of Honolulu, Hawaii; a son, Daryl Gray of Overland Park, Kans.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Ayers and Gineve Vaughn both of Poplar Bluff.
Visitation will begin at 12 noon Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel with Rev. Steve Patterson officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at 3 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
