Zelma I. Carmichael

Zelma I. Carmichael, 88, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 at The Manor in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Carmichael was born Aug. 31, 1920 in Carter County, near Van Buren. She was a member of Twin Springs Baptist Church, and was a retired business owner. Mrs. Carmichael attended Beauty College during her earlier years, and eventually opened and operated beauty shops in Piedmont and Puxico. She later became owner of Ozark Beauty College, which she operated until 1996. Mrs. Carmichael enjoyed her two cats, sewing, crocheting, yard work and flowers.

On Aug. 2, 1960 she was married to Herschel ""Mac"" Carmichael. He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1999.

A brother, Iven Glenwood Martin of Poplar Bluff, survives Mrs. Carmichael.

Her parents, James and Viola (Foster) Martin, and brothers, Lawrence Martin, Carl Martin, Floyd Martin and Owen Martin preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Gresham Cemetery in Carter County.
