Charles 'Chuck' Loury II Obituary

So, with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.

John 16:22

Charles (Chuck) Edward Loury II, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, rode into the sunset on August 7, 2022.  He was born on July 19, 1959, to Charles and Katie Loury.  Chuck grew up in Poplar Bluff, MO where he graduated from Poplar Bluff High School.

He married his wife Sheila on September 20, 1986.  They made their lifetime home in Poplar Bluff, MO.  Chuck and Sheila enjoyed a life together of raising three daughters, traveling to barrel races, enjoying their grandchildren and taking in all the precious moments life had to offer.  Chuck’s family was his pride and joy.

Chuck began his career with City, Light & Water in the water department in 1979 and then transferred to the electric department in 1989.  He retired from the job he loved in November of 2019.  Running his beagles with his father, brother and friends was something that Chuck enjoyed thoroughly and was always excited to do.  He was a member of the Peach Country Beagle Club where he once served as the Vice President.  He also enjoyed hunting and was always looking for a project to complete.

Chuck had a passion and undeniable skill at riding and training barrel horses.  His skill and love for the barrel horse community, was something that he passed on to his three daughters and his grandchildren.  Chuck was always willing to help anyone that needed him.  He leaves behind a legacy that changed the barrel horse community forever.  He will be missed and we will always be grateful for all of his shared wisdom and contributions he left behind.  He was an amazing cowboy and a friend to all who knew him.

Chuck leaves behind his wife, Sheila; his daughters, Amanda and husband Mark Howard of Doniphan, Ashley and husband Justin Moore of Poplar Bluff and Charmayne and husband Patrick Edington of Poplar Bluff; six grandchildren, Bailey Carson, Kaden Plunk, Kylen Plunk, Charleigh Moore, Kason Howard and Avery Edington; his mother, Katie Loury; his brother, Kenny and wife Lisa Loury; and his sister, Gayla and husband Dan Wyatt; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Loury and granddaughter, Harper Leigh Moore.
