Michael Nelson Obituary

Michael Lee Nelson, 72, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away April 11, 2024, at his home in Poplar Bluff.

Mike was born Sept. 12, 1951, to Chester and Nora Lee (Taylor) Nelson in Poplar Bluff.  He married Kimberly Flagg Wolpers Feb. 5, 1972, in Poplar Bluff.

Mike was a natural businessman, his love for dirt started at an early age with his dad.  He began his own businesses as a heavy equipment operator and farmer. In 1983, he and his brother bought the Case International and Kubota in Poplar Bluff and later added the Sikeston location.  Mike was a member of the Federal Land Bank Board and a big supporter of the Republican Party. He loved to travel with Kim in their coach and got to see vast areas of the United States and the dogs were never left behind.  Mike and Kim spent time with Jennifer and Jim traveling around Europe. In between traveling, Mike loved coming home to Krista, Joe, and the boys to spend quality time on the farm.  He loved his grandsons dearly and passed on a sense of integrity and strong character. Mike will be dearly missed by all his friends and family.

Mike is survived by his wife, Kim; two daughters, Jennifer (Jim) Smith and Krista (Joe) Greenwall; three grandsons, J. Michael, Dawson, and Kolby Greenwall; one brother-in-law, Scott (Sandy) Fuller; cousin, Craig Meador; and two fur babies, Willie, and Dolly Nelson.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Chester, and Nora Lee; two brothers, Dick and Nick Nelson; and one brother-in-law, Jim Fuller.
