Michael Alan Wells, 65, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at his residence.
Michael was born Sept. 27, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri to Shirley Rae Wells and was raised also by his stepfather, Clay Kaestner.
Michael was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He also was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society, a worldwide organization of lay Catholics, following Christ’s call to serve the poor, the suffering and the hungry. He was also a Deputy Grand Knight 3rd Degree with the Knight of Columbus, a Catholic men’s fraternal benefit society. The order holds true to its founding principles of charity, unity, and fraternity. The Mission of the Knights of Columbus is to support the Church and Family. Michael helped run the food pantry and was active in all church fundraisers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hanging out with his children and grandchildren.
After a life changing accident when he was young, Michael completed high school and two years of college. He worked as an Internal Auditor for Brown Shoe Factory for many years.
On June 7, 1975, he married his sweetheart Katherine Sue Richter, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on Oct. 27, 2019.
In his passing, Michael is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Craig) Wilson and Katie (Christopher) Pearson. He will be greatly missed by seven grandchildren, Christian, Morgan, Canaan, Nevaeh, Gracie, Carson, and Zachary.
Missing him in the years to come will also be his siblings, Robert, Fred and Mary along with many others including but not limited to nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and numerous loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Shirley and Clay Kaestner, his mother and father-in-law Mary and Virgil Richter, his brother Albert James (Jay) Wells and his brother-in-law Virgil Richter Jr.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. Friday June 24, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am with Father Daniel Robles serving as Celebrant. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
