Missy Anthony Obituary

Missy Dougherty Anthony was born to loving parents Malcolm and Anna (Riddle) Dougherty on Sept 28, 1971, in St. Louis, Missouri. She passed into the arms of Jesus on February 24, 2024, after a ferocious battle with cancer.

Missy attended Poplar Bluff schools. She met the love of her life, Robert Anthony, in 5th grade and went on to graduate together from PBHS in 1989. Missy continued her education, graduating from Three Rivers College in 1991, Southeast Missouri State University in 1993, and Hannibal Lagrange College, earning degrees in mathematics and psychology. During her college years she was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Psi Chi sororities.

Missy and Robert reconnected at their 25th class reunion, then married on April 06, 2015. They were partners in crime until his passing in 2021. Although a teacher by trade, Missy worked with Robert to bring their mutual dreams and goals to life. One of those dreams was to simply share a friendly conversation and tasty cheeseburger with the local “neighbors”; this dream turned into a reality when they opened My Brother’s Bar & Grill in 2019.

Missy lived a full life and shared her unique perspective with those around her. She viewed the world in more vibrant colors and was able to bring her visions to life with her creativity. Missy had a brilliant mind that manifested in a myriad of beautiful and creative ways. Missy was never without a project, finding unconventional yet interesting ways to color the space around her. Her unique personality made knowing her a once in a lifetime experience. She was equal parts mischief and mayhem; a tiny tornado that gave a great hug! Missy shared her best qualities with her sons. She was extremely proud of the men they had become.

In addition to her parents, Missy is survived by her greatest legacy, her three sons, Dustin Morse, Colby Ross, and Austin Ross; maternal grandmother, Marie Agee; special friend and aunt, Dianne Davis; sister of the heart, Jessica Brotherton; also survived by numerous extended family and friends.
