Nancy Corcimiglia Obituary

Nancy L. (Holmes) Corcimiglia, took Jesus’ hand on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. She was born on November 16, 1940, in West Frankfort, Illinois, to the late Wallace Wendell Holmes and Margaret Mary (Mathia) Holmes.

Nancy attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri, and received a Diploma of Nursing, Registered Nurse. She also attended Tarkio College for Nursing Management courses and Three Rivers College for a business course.

Nancy worked as a Registered Nurse for 45 years: an Operating Room Nurse for 38 years, as a staff nurse, clinical instructor, and director of surgical services. 6 years in various other nursing fields to include: surgical ICU nurse, night staff nurse and supervisor and materials manager for 2 operating room departments. She was a travel nurse and worked at many different hospitals throughout her career in Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, California, Arizona, and Hawaii. She also served in US Army Nurse Corp during the Vietnam conflict. She was a past member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses and completed her AORN Certification.

Nancy was of the Baptist faith and a member of Fellowship Church. She spent much of her time there helping where she could.

The union of Nancy and Howard Corcimiglia welcomed four wonderful children: Howard Joseph, Lanny Christopher, Laura Christina, and Jeffrey Scott Corcimiglia.

Nancy loved life. She loved her children dearly and loved doing things with them. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and loved them with great passion and enjoyed time she spent with them! She enjoyed traveling, genealogy, friends and family.

Family includes one daughter, Laura C. (Levi) Moore; three sons, Howard J. (Jessica) Corcimiglia, Lanny C. (Bree) Corcimiglia, and Jeffrey S. (Jessica) Corcimiglia; twelve grandchildren, Brannon Fenimore, Audrey Moore, Jordan Corcimiglia, Jacob Corcimiglia, Peyton Corcimiglia, Zoe Savat, Hannah Corcimiglia, Isabella Corcimiglia, Lane Savat (precedes her), Reese Corcimiglia, Liam Cross, and Sophia Corcimiglia; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Special best friends, Chloe DeClue and Marie Barrentine.

Also preceding her in death are her parents; grandparents; sister, Patricia A. (Holmes) Speers; brother-in-law, Fred O. Speers, Jr.; nephew, Scott Thomas Speers; former husband, Howard Corcimiglia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Poplar Bluff Animal Shelter, Saving Grace Mission, Caring Hands Medical Mission, or the DAV.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 5:00-6:00p at Fellowship Church. The memorial service will begin at 6:00p with Pastor Byron Beck officiating. Her ashes will be scattered by her family and friends at a later date.
